Mercedes Sanchez started her career in media as a features reporter at the New York Post in 2005. There she interviewed celebrities, musicians, and actors on their projects for the newspaper's weekly and monthly Tempo section. Mercedes searched for the latest trends in food, fashion, cosmetics and music in New York City all while collaborating closely with the paper's sales and marketing departments.
She later went on to WNBC's morning show "Today in New York" where she produced lifestyle and human-interest segments. Notable interviews include former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and the late Ed Koch. Mercedes pitched daily stories to the executive producer, produced packages, wrote scripts, and field produced interviews across the tri-state area.
Today she freelances for publications such the New York Daily News and El Diario-La Prensa, and offers on-air commentary on local and national television shows. She also covers fashion, beauty and travel on her blog BeChicMag.com which she launched in 2007.
