Ford, the renowned vehicle manufacturer, recently recognized four influential women from New York for their efforts in their respective fields, including Lifestyle Expert Mercedes Sanchez who received the Innovation award.
Mercedes Sanchez was honored for her work in the digital space and television and being a pioneer in the Latina blogger community.
“This award comes just as I celebrate 15 years with Be Chic Mag, the blog that took my career to the next level,” says Sanchez who’s of Dominican descent. “My goal has always been to write and produce content that is relatable. I grew up in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, an underserved neighborhood. Beauty, fashion, and corporate wear shouldn’t be sacrificed because of one’s budget. They should be inclusive, and I am proud to partner with lifestyle brands that are accessible.”
To commemorate the anniversary of her blog, the Latina television personality launched Career Style Tips – a column for women entering or returning to the workplace. In her new column, Mercedes hopes to give women frank and executable advice on how to seamlessly enter or return to work post COVID— such as the best ways to dress well for the office without breaking the bank.
For the past ten years, Ford has celebrated the strength of more than 200 distinguished women in the United States. The honorees in New York this year are Mercedes Sanchez, Innovation Category; Liseth Pérez-Almedia, Community Category; Victoria Jenn Rodríguez, Leadership Category; and, Elizabeth Yeampierre, Environmental and Human Sustainability Category.
This recognition seeks to help these women “to build a better world, where each person is free to move and pursue their dreams; celebrating their continued contributions in the areas of leadership, community engagement, innovation, and environmental and human sustainability,” underlined Ford.
The award ceremony took place on Friday, December 16 in partnership with the Queens Women’s Chamber of Commerce at Da Mikele Illagio in Elmhurst.
