“Dominicanas que Impactan”: Dominican Sisters Club Celebrates Its 3rd Anniversary in Miami
This past Saturday, Dominican excellence took center stage as the Dominican Sisters Club hosted a powerful celebration of sisterhood, purpose, and legacy. The organization marked its third anniversary with the release of the sixth edition of The Club Guide—a magazine dedicated to highlighting Dominican women who are breaking barriers across the globe.
Held at the Aloft Hotel in Florida, the event brought together 30 trailblazing women recognized as “Dominicanas que Impactan”—a title reserved for those making an undeniable mark in media, health, fashion, diplomacy, and community leadership. The occasion was supported by the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic, with Consul Geanilda Vázquez leading the award presentations.
“On behalf of the Dominican government and the mission we lead, the Consulate is extremely proud of each and every one of you—of what you’ve achieved, the impact you’ve made, and how you’ve elevated the Dominican community to the next level,” said Vázquez during the ceremony.
Among this year’s honorees were media personalities Mariela Encarnación, Robmariel Olea, and Lourdes Stephen; Dr. Mónica Bello; award-winning chef Dayanny De La Cruz; brand strategist Suz Amaro; and two standout women from New York City: Mercedes Sánchez and Albania Rosario.
A lifestyle expert and founder of Be Chic Mag, Mercedes Sánchez was recognized for her work in communications and 15-year career in digital and television media. “I flew in from New York and was only in Miami for five hours, but this recognition will last a lifetime,” said Sánchez. “It is an honor to be recognized as a Dominicana de Impacto and to represent so many women who, like me, are working to leave a mark in media, culture, and our communities.”
Albania Rosario, known for championing Latin designers through her platform FDLA (Fashion Designers of Latin America), was honored for her leadership in the fashion industry and her commitment to cultural empowerment on international stages.
The event also marked a significant milestone for the Dominican Sisters Club: the announcement of its first international chapter in Canada, launched in partnership with the Dominican Embassy in Ottawa, led by Ambassador José Blanco.
Founders Katherine Pesantes and Paulette Noboa closed the celebration with a heartfelt message: “This brunch was not just a celebration of achievements, but also a call to continue strengthening the network of Dominican women who are transforming communities through their talent, leadership, and commitment.”
