NYC’s most anticipated new store is here — and I got an early look
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Burlington on broadcast segments over the past couple of years. So you can only imagine my excitement when I got the call about the grand opening of their brand new flagship location right here in New York City.
And if you’re a true New Yorker — especially if you’re sad we lost Bed Bath & Beyond — this one is going to hit different. Burlington took over that iconic Chelsea space at 620 6th Avenue (between 18th and 19th Streets), and honestly? It’s the glow-up that corner deserved.
A Red Carpet Moment — with My Momma
I was invited to the exclusive pre-opening red carpet event on Tuesday evening, and for this one, I brought my mom. My aunts and she have long been fans of the Union Square Burlington location, so I knew she’d appreciate getting to see the new Chelsea store before it opened to the public. And I have to say — I think this might be one of the first events she’s ever accompanied me to! It made the night extra special.
We sipped champagne, enjoyed some light bites, and while I headed off on a media tour of the space, my mom did what she does best — she shopped. No complaints there.
What Makes This Location Special
The store officially opens to the public on Friday, April 3, 2026, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:25 a.m. featuring Burlington CEO Michael O’Sullivan. And here’s a beautiful touch: Burlington will also be presenting a $20,000 donation to AdoptAClassroom.org to fund school supplies for local students. That’s the kind of community love I can get behind.
The space itself is housed in the historic Siegel-Cooper Building, which is over 100 years old — a stunning backdrop for a completely reimagined shopping experience. The store spans two floors and 80,000 square feet, with neon signs and a custom design inspired by classic NYC iconography. Wide, organized aisles, bold signage, and a thoughtful layout make it genuinely easy to navigate — which, if you’ve ever done a serious Burlington run, you know is everything.
One thing that really stood out to me on the media tour was seeing Spanish-language signage throughout the store. It’s a small detail that says a lot. Burlington knows their clientele, and making sure Spanish-speaking shoppers feel seen and at home isn’t an afterthought — it’s built right into the experience. As a Latina New Yorker, that means something to me.
This will be Burlington’s 74th store in New York State and their fifth location in Manhattan. And with fresh merchandise arriving each week at up to 60% off other retailers’ prices, there’s always something new to discover — from ladies’ apparel and accessories to menswear, juniors, kids, beauty, home décor, baby essentials, pet care, and more.
Want to Be One of the First In?
If you’re heading to the grand opening on April 3rd, get there early! The first 100 customers (ages 18+) will receive a $10 Bonus Card toward their purchase — plus a surprise giveaway. It’s worth setting that alarm.
Whether you’re a longtime Burlington fan or you’ve been curious about what they’re all about, this Chelsea flagship is the perfect introduction. Trust me — after my behind-the-scenes tour, I walked away genuinely impressed by how much the brand has evolved. This isn’t just a bargain store. It’s a full-on shopping experience.
