Adult Acne Diary 2

If you read the previous post about my meeting with dermatologist Dr. Bank where he said it looks like I have a case of adult acne, then you know I’m starting an acne diary. I hope you follow me on my journey as I try to clear up my skin once and for all and get rid of four-year-old red marks and prevent new zits from forming. For the past six weeks, I’ve been going by a routine another dermatologist recommended where I begin and end my day with Purpose Gentle Washing Cleanser followed by an azelaic acid gel.

For the most part it has been working; however, I got my first two pimples in six weeks and I’ m afraid the gel isn’t removing the scars either. I’ll keep track of the “progress” with weekly photos. Here are two I took earlier this morning fresh out of bed. On the picture above, you can see one of the two pimples I’m referring to. Thankfully from this angle, there are not many red marks. I wish I could say the same for the left side of my face. Take a look at the picture below:

As you can see, this is the real problem area. The blemish on top is new, but the red marks below are not. This is a calm version– but once I take a warm shower the marks get darker. To prevent a new zit from forming, I’m going to go this entire week without makeup and see if that helps. My dermatologist also recommended I purchase a non-comedogenic moisturizer called Complex 15, but I can’t find it anywhere! I bought the Cetaphil cream instead, and although I can’t confirm, I think the Cetaphil was what brought the new zits my way this week. Perhaps it has some oils not labeled on the bottle?

Feel free to leave any recommendations or comments below! – Mercedes
